A Police investigation is underway following an overnight break-in at Crepe Lovers in Ryde.
The premises, located on High Street in Ryde was targeted overnight (Saturday into Sunday) with cash stolen from the till.
Burglars gained access to the premises by smashing the rear door in.
Taking to their Facebook page, Crepe Lovers have said:
“We just got robbed last night, and we are devastated!
“It’s been some hard few months trying to balance costs and less holiday makers than usual… and now this to add.”
Crepe Lovers was forced to close today, but they hope to open as usual tomorrow (Monday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that an investigation has been launched and enquiries are underway.

More CCTV needs to be rolled out across the
Island.
Jeeze, speed humps everywhere, then speed cameras, then parking permits now islandwide CCTV are you for real?? Next you will be expecting police to be standing on every corner, get a grip will you EIE
What would you suggest then Wow to help curb the daily lawlessness that blights our island?
legalising cannabis would be a good start. Would stop all this petty theft.
One problem, it smells nasty.
What’s that got to do with this post ?
Cannabis has been legal in the uk since 2018 on prescription… just sayin… and if people are that sad and desperate they need to rob for a 10 bag of weed then they’ll do it if its legal or not unless you’re also proposing that its legal AND free? Might as well give out bongs in happy meals too whilst you’re at it looool… but yeah why not legalise heroine and crack cocaine whilst you’re at it too cause that’ll solve everything for sure and who doesn’t love seeing a junkie at 11am in the high street that doesn’t even need to hide the fact they’re a junkie anymore right? #ConfidentCrackheadsForLocalGovernment ♂️
Investment, education, more engagement, youth clubs and facilities? The list goes on. And that’s just assuming the perpetrators were youths – which isn’t always the case
Youth clubs did work in the past and so did
National service.
So true, obviously Wow doesn’t want to stop
crime.
Where in my comment does it state i dont what crime to stop?? Oh it doesn’t, ur just boring typing all this crap about speed humps, cameras, cctv ect all the time, yet as someone has previously stated to you in another post the actual cost for everyone if they did what some old fart sitting at home (yes you) is saying
It’s like an Orwellian mantra
Nothing wrong with 1984, unless you have
something to hide.
They stood on corners years ago with just a whistle
it was a very effective service, so why not.
Flipping thieves. Hope once caught, that they get battered and not just a sugar coated sentence. I’m sorry it’s been a sour time for Crepe Lovers and wish them a speedy recovery as their food is reaaly really good.
Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
Honesty is always the best policy.
Whats wrong with people these days breaking into small businesses and robbing them.
All the hard work these guys put into making this a lovely place to visit taken by some stupid arse holes.
Hopefully you guys can get back to normal and serving soon
Drugs fuel most crime.
Whats wrong with people these days breaking into small businesses and robbing them.
Rhetorical?
Nobody was robbed.
You’re missing the point. It’s called irony
The police will do absolutely f**k all… if they do they will achieve f**k all.
They either won’t have the resource or leads needed to progress this, if they do – it’ll go to court. Some lawyer, who we will be paying for via legal aid will spin a story about how poor Timmy had a bad week, his girlfriend left him and he drank a bit more than usual your honour.. he is very sorry.
A £10 fine, which we will pay via benefits will be issue with a slap on the wrist…
We are lawless in this country…
Well said. I don’t understan why compensation is rarely ordered by the courts… It should be mandatory, + compensation. And when they don’t pay, bang them up!
Take heart Crepe Lovers. I didn’t know that one could dine on Crepes in Ryde. I’ll be there!
You should visit, they are flipping good.
