Police are this week investigating the theft of a safe from a business near Porchfield, the third safe theft on the Island this month alone.
Criminals targeted Island Ales at Dinglers Farm on the main Newport to Yarmouth road at the weekend, smashing a window and gaining access to a small safe. Although a larger safe was tampered with, the thieves made off with nothing of value from the smaller of the two.
The incident occurred sometime between 18:00 on Friday (27th November) and 07:20 on Saturday morning, the same time frame in which two safes were stolen from a pub in Shanklin two weeks earlier. Only a week before that – on the 7th November – a safe was stolen from The Waverly Pub in Carisbrooke, again in the same time frame of Friday night into Saturday.
Fears are growing that the three incidents are linked, a certain line of enquiry for Hampshire Constabulary.
