UPDATED: The National Police Air Support helicopter is conducting an aerial search of Chale tonight.
Several readers have reported that the helicopter has been circling the village of Chale and areas of Blackgang since before midnight.
Several Police units are understood to be on the ground assisting in the search. A powerful spotlight is being used by the helicopter.
UPDATE FRIDAY @ 07:00 – It has been confirmed the early hours search was in relation to a missing person investigation.
The helicopter from Benson in Oxfordshire left the scene at 00:40, around an hour after being tasked to the search by Hampshire Constabulary.
The person had been reported missing to Police yesterday afternoon and was found safe and well last night.
