The National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter from Bournemouth has been called in to assist the Police with an ongoing incident in Shanklin this lunchtime (Thursday).
A large number of units have gathered in the area of Skew Bridge between Lake and Shanklin in what is understood to be the search for a wanted individual.
The incident began sometime around 13:44.
UPDATE @ 14:50 – Island Echo understands that officers are looking for a wanted male in a grey hoodie, who has made his escape via the railway line.
Network Rail have isolated the power and train services between Ryde and Shanklin are currently suspended.
The search is now centred around Flitcroft Gardens where witnesses saw an individual scale a fence.
UPDATE @ 15:52 – The NPAS helicopter has now returned to Dorset.
The individual is not thought to have been detained, although did stop and speak to 2 males on Lake Hill.
UPDATE @ 16:04 – Police have confirmed that the man, who is wanted for several offences, has not been located.
A search was carried out after he was spotted in Shanklin.
Yesterday, officers were conducting similar searches in the Oakfield area of Ryde.

Could some one please tell us if this person is dangerous? We are too worried to take our dog out for a walk as no information has been given. Whst is the point of putting a half backed storyline on then give no reasons why theres a man hunt.
