The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth was called into action in the skies above the Isle of Wight earlier this afternoon (Wednesday) after a car failed to stop for Police.
At around midday officers on the ground descended on the Shanklin and Wroxall areas, with the helicopter overhead within just 20 minutes. The dark blue chopper circled above before moving slowly across Apse Heath towards Ryde.
Once in Ryde, the helicopter and its crew circled the town several times before standing down and heading West at 12:40.
It has been confirmed that Police were searching for a vehicle that failed to stop. Open areas were cleared and enquiries continue.
