Police descended on Wootton at lunchtime today (Wednesday) in the search for a man who is wanted on recall to prison for breaching the terms of his licence. Numerous officers took up position on streets around Church Road and High Street shortly before midday, after a wanted male was spotted in the area. Island Echo understands the individual fled from the car park behind Premier at the top of the High Street and into Wootton Lodge, with a containment soon put in place around the residential area. As part of efforts to locate the male, officers stopped a vehicle on Station Road – boxing the truck in as part of a hard stop. However, the male was not located inside the vehicle. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says that investigations are ongoing to locate him.
