UPDATED: Multiple Police units and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor are in attendance at Yaverland Car Park in Sandown this evening (Thursday).
Emergency services were called to the scene at shortly before 19:40, however it remains unclear as to what exactly has occurred.
It is thought the incident is centred around the Red Cliff area.
UPDATE @ 20:06 – Coastguard officers are making their way towards Culver Cliff via the beach and the cliff top, alongside Police.
It is thought Police are responding to concerns for welfare.
UPDATE @ 20:36 – Police remain in and around Yaverland tonight as they work alongside Coastguard teams at the cliff edge half way between Yaverland and Culver Down.
It is understood a man is in a vulnerable state.
Sandown Independent Lifeboat has been tasked to the incident alongside the National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth.
UPDATE @ 20:48 – A man has been successfully talked down from the cliff edge and is now receiving the help he requires thanks to the efforts of Police, a Serenity mental health nurse and HM Coastguard.
Emergency teams are now standing down.
