The Royal London Yacht Club, the organiser of Cowes Classics Week, has announced that Peter Taylor MBE will take over as Chair of the regatta for 2022.
Peter brings a wealth of talent to the role; he is an International and Olympic Race Officer and has successfully chaired Cowes Week for the last 5 years.
With record entries of over 200 in 2021, Cowes Classics Week is the largest classic yacht regatta of its type, yet it retains the character of a club-based event with lively social events centred on the RLYC and other yacht clubs in Cowes.
High quality Corinthian racing is organised on 5 separate race courses from Monday 27th June to Friday 1st July. Cowes Classics Day, a new feature of Cowes Classics Week launched in 2021 and featuring many classic cars, yachts and motorboats on display, will be held on Sunday 26th June – the day after the world-renowned Round the Island Race.
Peter, who has been involved with the regatta since its start, said:
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to lead Cowes Classics Week as we enter our 14th year. We have already had a wash up meeting with competitors at the 2021 event and are taking their feedback into account and with the uncertainties of last year behind us, we’re going all out for a bumper year in 2022”.
Entries will open by 1st March and more information can be found at www.cowesclassicsweek.org.
