After almost 2-and-a-half hours of discussion in the council chamber last night (Tuesday), a decision has still not been reached on the Pennyfeathers housing application for Ryde.
A decision about the access, appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the major 904-home development was due to be made by the Isle of Wight Council’s planning committee.
Members of the planning committee said they still had questions to ask about the development but ran out of time, as the meeting could go on no longer than 4 hours and other planning applications had already been discussed.
However, it was noted by some councillors that the questions being asked were already answered some 6 years ago.
The planning committee will meet again, at a date to be decided, but before the next scheduled meeting in April.
It has been more than 7 years since the plans were first posed to the Isle of Wight Council and 16 since the Pennyfeathers name first came about.
So basically they spent the whole meeting answering the same questions as last time what a waste of time and money
the council know that this is not wanted by islanders, not needed and the infrastructure cant cope. Also, the councillors know that this level of environmental destruction is not a vote winner and all of them will be out of jobs at the next elections unless they deny it.
pink and co, are running the risk of direct action, unless they dump this selfish, money grabbing, greenfield wrecking idea.
So if the council know it’s not wanted why have they already given it the green light in the past?
Bung money
Typical of this inept council. Don’t even know how to run a meeting on time. Just a talking shop. Should have approached the scheduled end time, called a stop to more futile questioning, and put it to the vote. That is how we operate in the real world.
The Pink Touch – turns Green into Grey by adding Brown.
Until the services, hospitals, doctors, dentists etc can be improved to cope no more people should be attracted to live on the Island. Equally, until brownfield sites are used no more beautiful countryside should be sacrificed at the alter of developer profits.
Pennyfeathers is not needed.
St Mary’s cannot cope now, God knows what will happen if they build more
Houses.
Build another Hospital 1st, then think about building more homes.
Until then go back to your W.F.H base and chill.
Could have still lived in one of those houses at Westridge for 7 years+…
I do not know why they are building on green areas… that land now a has been mostly dormant for 7 years… imagine the wildlife there now… what happened about those protected insects that were there ?? Certainly do not want or need expensive housing in Ryde… do they have over 900 Islanders ready to buy.. no way..!!
So-calledd “Pennyfeathers” is yet another lost farm in the Ryde area.
I think it’s terrible!
Just say NO………
Don’t want it Don’t need it !!!!
Half a dozen affordable homes the rest fat cat profits…..
We don’t want a concrete jungle…
We need Dr’s Dentists Nurses etc ….
Infrastructure Infrastructure Infrastructure!!!!!!!!
What’s the point of building more homes
So more idiots can Park on Pavements like the residents do
who live in the Old Council Houses along Great Preston Rd
Sure you would prefer to move back to S.A, you might be happier there, and we all certainly would. Still here?…..thought so.
Watch the IW planning committee on you tube…. an eye opener to be sure……..
