2 people have been treated by paramedics for the effects of smoke inhalation following a house fire at a residential property in East Cowes this evening (Friday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 3 appliances from Newport, Ryde and Cowes to a semi-detached property on Osborne Road at just before 18:30.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire had developed on the ground floor.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus and armed with hose reel jets were committed to the property to contain and extinguish the fire, with positive pressure ventilation then utilised to clear smoke from the property.
It has been confirmed that 2 people have been treated at the scene by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. They’ve escaped serious injury.
Osborne Road has now reopened following the departure of emergency services, with the last appliance standing down and returning to station at 21:40.
The property at the centre of tonight’s incident has been damaged by both fire and smoke, with the front window smashed.
