A 38-year-old man from Sandown has been charged with wounding with intent following a double stabbing in Shanklin on Monday afternoon.
Kevin Williams, of Downsview, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a knife/blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
The charges follow an incident on Palmerston Road in Shanklin on Monday (12th October), which saw 2 men suffer minor injuries reportedly caused by a knife.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police and paramedics descended on the town centre shortly before 16:00, with officers erecting a large cordon between the junctions with Queens Road and Park Road.
Resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were mobilised to the scene, with both injured men subsequently taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
Island Echo understands that at least 1 of the men suffered injuries to his hand during the incident.
Police confirmed later that evening that a 38-year-old man from Sandown had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that Williams has been formally charged with 2 offences following the incident.
He is due to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday).
