Police are hunting a man and a woman after a shop worker was assaulted during the theft of a ring from a jeweller’s in Sandown yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary responded to Sandown Jewellers on the corner of High Street and St John’s Road to reports of a robbery.
It has now been confirmed that officers are seeking 2 people in connection with the incident, which left 1 person hospitalised.
It’s said that the suspects entered the store at around 15:15 before the woman worked to distract a member of staff, whilst the man stole the ring.
The eagle-eyed worker soon confronted the male – described as wearing beige shorts, a blue jacket and a black cap – who then proceeded to punch the member of staff.
Both the man and woman fled the scene and are now wanted by Police, who are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to call 101 quoting reference 44250348319.
Emergency services remained on scene for around 2 hours yesterday, with the entrance to the popular jewellers cordoned off.

Surely there must be cctv coverage, if not for the actual robbery, the surrounding area so why not publish the suspects photos now – or are we waiting for a couple of months as previously has happened in robberies, assaults etc.
If anywhere needs CCTV, it is shabby Sandown.
