With just 6 months to go until Isle of Wight Road Races roars onto the scene, both volunteer and paid opportunities have arisen for those wanting a career in motorsport.
The Isle of Wight Roads Races are planned for April 2022, bringing international motorcycle racing to the Island for the very first time. The IWRR aims to attract top riders from the motorcycle racing world to the Island for an event which will be one-of-a-kind.
Road racing was effectively prohibited when speed restrictions were introduced on UK roads back in the 1960s, but recent legislation has made it possible once again. The format will be similar to the famous Isle of Man TT Races which attracts race fans from across the world and provides a massive boost to the local tourism economy.
Newport-based marketing agency Solent is currently putting together a new team to help deliver the event and is looking for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals to fill both volunteer and paid vacancies.
Tim Addison of Solent says:
“Initially we need support for our marketing team, but this will also be widening over the next couple of months to include event management and delivery. IWRR will be creating a number of new local jobs which are starting right now.
“We are particularly interested in providing new career opportunities for young people who live in and around the circuit. We know that opportunities can sometimes feel a bit limited in rural communities across the Island and we want this event to add value for the Isle of Wight at every stage”.
Initially, IWRR are looking for a project coordinator/administrator who will work closely with the head of the communication team. Those interested should email [email protected] with ‘IWRR vacancy’ in the subject field for a job description.

What makes you think they are old toffs? Maybe some people just long for a more peaceful and quieter way of life. There is so much noise and rushing around nowadays. I could put up with something like this for just once a year but I don’t live in the area and maybe people are worried about events like this encouraging the bad behaviour of certain types who go racing around on noisy bikes at all hours. It’s bad enough now with these things speeding around the streets at night causing disturbance and stress. Heaven forbid that something like this might encourage them even more.

People think it’s selfish trying to stop their fun, but isn’t it selfish being determined to inflict things on residents that they just don’t want? I can understand people being afraid and alarmed so why should they always be dismissed as just killjoys?
Because you are ,people try to stop the festival ,Motocross now the motorcycle race alot of people want this and it’s good for our island it’s only for a couple of days

If all your interested in is motor cycles speeding around the Island, bring your sandwiches and drinks and sit on the Military Road every weekend and you can enjoy it free.
