2 independents and 2 political parties hope to gain the Isle of Wight Council seat of Osborne from the current councillor, Stephen Hendry.
The ward’s nominees are Julie Burridge (Liberal Democrat), Stephen Colin Hendry (Local Conservatives), Michael Paler (Independent), Tracy Cathleen Reardon (Independent) and Paul Williams (Reform UK).
Pitches of 100 words and photos were sought from candidates, either directly or through parties or groups, ahead of the May 7 council elections.
Here’s what they had to say, in no particular order…
Julie Burridge
Living and working as a carer in my local community, I have seen first hand how the failure of our council has impacted the residents of Osborne ward.
I want to serve my community by working hard to offer common sense solutions to local issues such as the floating bridge fiasco and the overwhelming need for better local infrastructure and transport links where there are new housing developments, as well as protecting our cherished green spaces.
Osborne residents of all ages deserve a committed councillor to
raise their concerns and fight for better outcomes for all.
Stephen Colin Hendry (incumbent ward councillor)
I have proudly called East Cowes home for 14 years, where my family and I are part of the local community and my children attend local schools.
For the past seven years, I have represented Osborne on the Isle of Wight Council, alongside 13 years on the town council. I work as a technical director from home, which allows me to stay accessible and responsive to local issues.

Michael Paler
You have a choice to vote Michael Paler Independent. I have lived in the Osborne ward, East Cowes for nine years and have been involved in the community on the Island and with councils and other groups who keep the communities on the Island ticking over.
I like working with people of all ages and look after their wellbeing. There are many changes ahead for the future of our people of our Island and I would like to take up the challenge with you all.
Tracy Cathleen Reardon
I’m Tracy Reardon and I’ve lived in East Cowes for 46 years where my family has run Housecrafts DIY shop and I personally have owned Flix Hairdressers for 39 years.
As a small local business owner I know many of you already but I’d like to know and support all of you. I am passionate and proud of our wonderful town and I love to help shape it, for the last few years I have been very honoured to be your town mayor.
With your vote I can continue to strive forward to improve things for our whole community.

I was born in Newport on the Isle of Wight and grew up on a farm, which gave me a strong work ethic from an early age. I later trained and qualified as an electrician and spent time in the Midlands for my education before returning to the Island 26 years ago.
Since then, I’ve lived on the Isle of Wight and work within Osborne ward.
I’m standing to be a councillor because I care deeply about our Island and its future. We’re seeing more litter, worsening roads, and vital services and amenities being lost—yet council tax keeps rising. That’s not good enough.
