Residents at Orchard House Care Home were treated to a refreshing surprise earlier this week as the care team organised a fun-filled ice cream afternoon to celebrate the glorious weather and coastal breeze on the Isle of Wight.
Earlier in the day, a group of residents enjoyed a local outing for ice cream, making the most of the sunshine and sea air. Not wanting anyone to miss out, Orchard House’s dedicated Deputy Manager and Activities Team brought the sweet treat back home by personally serving scoops of ice cream to everyone.
With a variety of flavours and plenty of smiles to go around, the event was so popular that the team decided to do it all again the following day.
Emma Sutton, Deputy Manager, has said:
“There’s something so simple and joyful about sharing an ice cream in the sun – it brought back memories and created new ones too.”
A special mention was given to Emma for her impressive ice cream-serving skills, with one colleague joking that she should not open her own ice cream business just yet as they are not ready to lose her.
It’s spontaneous, heartwarming experiences like these that make Orchard House feel even more like Homz.
