A Victorian gentlemen’s residence on the Island has gone under the virtual hammer for £350,000.
The 8-bedroom, 4-floor house at 18 Partlands Avenue, Ryde was among 83 lots being sold online by Clive Emson, Britain’s largest independent regional land and property auctioneers.
Rob Marchant, the firm’s Island auctioneer, said:
“There was a lot of bricks and mortar for the money here, including a cellar and a servants’ staircase and accommodation.
“This Victorian gentlemen’s residence, currently a family house, caught the imagination of bidders, with the virtual hammer coming down on a final bid of £350,000.”
During the Second World War the building laboured as Ryde’s maternity hospital. More recently, a self-contained annexe was adapted from the former servants’ quarters.
Currently let at £40,200 per annum, a mixed residential and commercial investment at 4-5 St Thomas’ Square, Newport, sold prior to auction. It was guided freehold at £300-330,000.
Clive Emson’s next online auction is Wednesday 29th July.
