A 44-year-old man from Ryde appeared in the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday) accused of committing more than 20 sexual offences, including some against young children.
Gareth Wheeler, of Blackthorn Close in Oakfield, has been charged with 25 different sexual offences which are alleged to have taken place over more than a decade, from 2007 to 2023.
The defendant is accused of sexual touching and penetration, observing a person doing a private act and possession of more than 33 indecent images of children, as well as possession of an extreme pornographic image/images portraying an act of intercourse with a dead or alive animal.
Mr Wheeler is alleged to have been caught in possession of 9x Category A, 11x Category B and 13x Category C indecent images.
Bail conditions have been set whilst Mr Wheeler awaits his plea and trial preparation hearing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 14th April.
