NURSERY ADVISES CHILDREN TO SELF-ISOLATE AFTER POSITIVE TEST RESULT

The Island Day Nursery in Sandown has a confirmed case of COVID-19, it has been announced.

Parents have been advised to self-isolate their children for 14 days in an email sent out this afternoon (Sunday).

The news comes just hours after Cowes Primary School revealed they too have had a confirmed case of coronavirus.

Article continues below this advertisement

Public Health England have confirmed that there is a case of COVID-19 within the Fort Street nursery.

It’s understood a staff member tested positive after attending St Mary’s Hospital.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not go to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.

Further information is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

Article continues below this advertisement

The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.

Household members should not go to work, school or public areas and exercise should be taken within the home.

If you require help with buying groceries, other shopping or picking up medication, or walking a dog, you should ask friends or family. Alternatively, you can order your shopping online and medication by phone or online.

Household members staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community

If you are able, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period.

Symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

  • a new continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

If your child or anyone in the household does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from NHS 111 at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/ or by phoning 111.

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19

Do

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

Further information is available at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/.

So much for ‘children under 11 don’t need to wear a mask they won’t be affected’.

They will still contract and carry the virus and bring it home and potentially cause others more elderly or vulnerable at home to lose their lives. A huge burden for anyone, let alone an innocent child to bear.

Children aged 5 years and under should not be required to wear masks. This is based on the safety and overall interest of the child and the capacity to appropriately use a mask with minimal assistance.

As a fellow academic I congratulate you on fighting for proper vocabulary. For someone who has conducted their own research, it appears you have come to the wrong conclusions.

What ‘research’ exactly have you done? If you can some to help others that would be really kind.

Scientific research, preferably peer review papers.

We clearly need you help so please guide us and I would be more than happy to change my conclusion reached after my research. So far I have not seen the evidence to support your argument.

Completely agree John. People who think this virus isn’t real is clearly a bloody stupid, uneducated idiot. Stop questioning the facts about the virus and follow the guidelines. Very simple!

1500 People die each week in the UK due to smoking related diseases – tobacco isn’t banned and there is no lockdown for smokers is there.

overkill on this covid – there are far worse things around and we live with it – stop being such a bunch of snowflakes and get on with it – any excuse for teachers and academics to be sat at home

Perhaps older people should stay indoors and not see the grand kids then – no more problem – kids go to school, old people are shielding and not impacting the ability of the rest of us to actually have a life.

If that happened how many would never reopen? Not to mention all the staff out of work and suppliers going out of business. There’s a knock on effect to everything. Our economy collapsing is a bigger threat now. If we all follow the guidelines as told we will get through it. We need to restart this country like most others have and children need the education and social and emotional need to be back at school or they could risk this having a huge impact on their futures and before anyone votes me down yes I do have kids and yes they should be at school

Over 60,000 MORE people have died this year. Bit more than ‘just a cold’.

Ian, understand this, humans are naturally lazy, what I mean is ,it’s easy to accept what you are told rather then think and work things out! So if someone is do the thinking for you, then most are happy. But when the stuff hits the fan, they will have a very rude awakening!! Of course this will be too late to do anything about it !!

Ian, just to be clear, the Covid-19 strain of the flu virus does exist, 29M cases across 214 countries evidences that. Even Mr Justice accepts this. His point relates more to how he believes the virus is being used to control our lives. IMO, people are too prone to panic rather than act sensibly.

Ian, if Covid doesn’t exist, what’s the reason for destroying the economy??..

Why would the world want to do that? Could it be an attempt to attack capitalism? And replace it with comunism?..

What’s the reason Ian?..

Would be better to tell the children’s mum/dad to get the children to isolate. Im not sure if the children would understand.

Oh but according to some people on the Island, we don’t have the virus here, it’s all made up. A government lie apparently. Maybe now some morons will wake up and follow the guidance of keeping distance, washing their hands, wearing a mask. I doubt it though as these morons just do as they want and won’t accept it is here.

this virus is being used as a means to control the mugs like you suzie -do as you are told sheeple. You just cannot see it can you.

you blindly accept everything that is told to you by the government and the media without stopping to think of any agendas at work.

You and all the other doubters are the ones that are sheeple, getting sucked in by some moron on facebook who thinks they are cleaver and smarter than science and physics. None of you must have attended school or you’d know that 5g radio waves absolutely cannot cause covid because thats an impossibility and the virus is very much real as verified by every scientist everywhere. Dumb arse.

What a dumbass. You need to grow up and accept that there IS a virus and just follow the guidelines rather than claiming that there is a hidden agenda at work…that’s just bloody pathetic, paranoid nonsense! Get a life!

I used to work in a school and in my experience the children spread more germs than the adults. They always had coughs, colds, sneezes and snotty noses. The adults caught more from the children than the other way round.

But the children get cold and viruses because the adults feed them wrong foodstuff. Bad food inside you is the breeding place . Meat and onions and garlic are main culprits. The stuff that makes your breath into a stench is the breeding ground.. The post says an adult has the virus not a child.

I grew up during WW11. Meat was heavily rationed, Onions were as rare as hen’s teeth and Garlic was something only Frenchmen ate. But I still had all the usual coughs, colds and sniffles.

We have been giving our children Garlic thinking it was a way to prevent colds etc, have we done the wrong thing then?

I am worried now.

Don’t worry, garlic is actually good for you. It is a natural antibiotic and boosts the immune system, amongst other things. Colds are helped by foods with garlic and onion in them.

Do you have to be an uneducated moron to post conspiracy theories or does it just help?

Facts…
Covid is real.
Masks help to slow the spread.
The government rules are to help us keep it under control.
Vaccines do NOT contain little robots.
We landed on the moon.
The earth is roughly spherical shape, NOT flat!
