UPDATED: The main Niton to Rookley road remains closed this morning (Wednesday) following a road traffic collision in which it is understood a car made off from the scene.
Emergency services including Police, paramedics and the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident near to Ford Farm Lane at 06:50 this morning following reports of a collision between a car and motorcycle.
Island Echo understands the car and driver involved failed to stop at the scene and made off.
The motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service with minor injuries.
UPDATE – The road has since reopened to traffic in both directions.
UPDATE @ 17:45 – The driver who fled the scene of this morning’s crash has handed himself into Police this afternoon, according to Island Echo sources.
UPDATE THURSDAY – The motorcyclist involved in yesterday’s collision has been discharged from hospital.
