School children from Ryde and the Island’s MP, Andrew Turner, are confirmed as being safe and well following a terror attack in London, which has claimed the lives of at least 2 people.
Earlier this afternoon a car ploughed into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before crashing into barriers surrounding the Houses of Parliament. At least 1 attacker is said to have run into the Palace Yard before stabbing a Police officer. The attacker was shot by Armed Police.
Children and teachers from Haylands Primary School in Ryde are on a visit to the capital today, but they are said to be safe. They are happily at the Natural History Museum.
MPs in Parliament have been on lock down for most of the afternoon, however are now being allowed to leave and return to their constituencies. Andrew Turner has confirmed that he is safe and well.
No Islanders are thought to have been injured at this point.
UPDATE @ 17:47 – Andrew Turner has paid tribute to those involved in this afternoon’s incident.
A spokesperson for Mr Turner has said:
“Andrew wants to thank and pay tribute to our amazing security services who put their lives on the line for the safety of others every single day. His thoughts and prayers are also with those innocent bystanders who have been injured and the relatives and loved ones of those who have lost their lives today.

It currently remains unclear as to whether or not Sajid Javid will be visiting the Island as scheduled tomorrow.
UPDATE @ 18:01 – It has been confirmed that 4 people have died, including 1 Police officer and the attacker. 20 people have been injured.
