Newport Road in Cowes is set to close today (Wednesday) for a period of 10 weeks whilst work takes place to install a new 450mm water main.
The main road connecting Cowes and Newport will be closed between Three Gates Road and Northwood Garage from 09:00 this morning, meaning all traffic will need to divert via Place Road and Nodes Road. The closure will remain in place until Thursday 24th March or when the works by Southern Water have been completed.
It comes after a shorter closure on Three Gates Road this week. The works in both roads form part of a new water main project between Three Gates Road, along Newport Road to the Newport side of Northwood traffic lights.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys.
Access will be maintained where possible throughout.
