Newport’s Day of Christmas is set to return this year, with the booking system for the popular skating rink to open soon.
This year the popular event will take place on Saturday 19th November in St James Square, St Thomas Square and the Quay from 10:00 until 18:00 – some 5 weeks before the big day.
The Christmas lights switch on will begin in St Thomas’s Square at 17:50.
There will be 2 skating options to choose from in 2022 – Ice Skating or Roller Skating. The synthetic ice rink will be based in the car park along Newport Quay and SKATES is based further along the Quay, towards Premier Inn. People will be able to book free skating sessions from 10:00 on Wednesday 2nd November on the Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council (NCCC) website.
SKATES owner Mark Rooney said:
“I built SKATES for our island community to enjoy. What better way to say that than by offering our venue for all to enjoy at this Day of Christmas event? What fun!”
