2 Island sides came together on Saturday in a local Mid-Solent A Division Under 15’s derby, which saw Newport IW Youth take a 5-2 win against Vectis Youth.
It was Newport who scored first through Ben Snow before Vectis grabbed an equalizer after a mistake in the Newport defence led to a tap in from a Vectis player. Newport then restored the lead through Aiden White following corner from Jake Wright, before Ben Snow scored his 2nd of the game to make it 3-1 at half time.
The second half started with Newport having plenty of the ball, but it was midway through the half that Newport scored again through substitute Izaac Kent. A couple of minutes later added a fifth through Brad Thompson, before Vectis pulled another goal back following a corner.
Newport’s ‘Man of the Match’ was Jack Turner who was steady in defence and steady when asked to play in midfield.
