Newport IW FC Under 15’s added to their impressive record of victories by winning the Hampshire Under 15 cup at Alton yesterday (Sunday).
Newport beat Havant & Waterlooville 2-1 with goals from Jaik Holton and Ben Snow. Man of the match was Jake Wright.
The game started slowly with both sides finding the going difficult on the all weather pitch, but it was top scorer Ben Snow who opened the scoring on 20 minutes for Newport when he beautifully lobbed the ball over the keeper. The game was pretty even after that, but Havant found the Newport keeper Fraser Law in fine form and Newport led 1-0 at the break.
The second half was similar to the first, but it was Newport who doubled the lead through substitute Jaik Holton and Newport started to take control from there in. Towards the latter stages of the half, Havant started putting Newport under pressure , but the defence and keeper Fraser Law kept them at bay, but with 5 minutes left Havant managed to pull a goal back , to make the last 5 minutes very nervy for Newport, but they managed to hold on for the victory.
