Newport IW Football Club kick off their 2017/18 pre-season campaign at St Georges Park on Tuesday (4th July,) with a 19:30 kick off against newly promoted National League South side Havant & Waterlooville FC.
Islander and manager of Havant & Waterlooville FC, Lee Bradbury will be bringing his squad of players to face Newport IW FC’s first team in what will be a display of top level football.
Lee Bradbury having recently been awarded the Ryman’s League manager of the season for 2016/17 has a long and prestigious professional playing career behind him. Lee has played at the highest of levels with Manchester City, Birmingham City, Portsmouth FC and AFC Bournemouth where he was also their manager during the 2011/12 season.
Newport’s Chairman Stuart Ross said:
“This is a great opportunity for people across the Island to watch a top level footballing side. The quality of football will be outstanding with many ex-professional footballers on show for all to see. We look forward to welcoming Havant & Waterloovile FC’s Lee Bradbury and his squad to St Georges Park”.
Spectators can pay on the turnstile gates on Tuesday evening before the game. Ticket prices are Adults £6, Concessions £3 and children under 16yrs £1. Gates open at 18:15.
Newport IW FC will then face newly promoted League 1 side Portsmouth FC on Tuesday 18th July at St Georges Park for a 19:00 kick off.
Portsmouth FC last played Newport 10 years ago during the summer of 2007 in a pre-season friendly which saw a crowd on 3,200 in the ground.
Portsmouth FC’s new manager Kenny Jacket will descend on the Isle of Wight with a strong squad of players. Thousands of Island Pompey fans will be given the opportunity to see their stars from Portsmouth’s first team in action.
