Newport beat St Helens by a margin of just 8 runs in a close-fought Senior Cup final at Newclose – the home of Isle of Wight cricket.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Newport made a respectable196 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 40 overs. Louis Payne hit an unbeaten 59 runs from 61 balls for the County Town club.
