After the game, Newport CC commented
“It was third time lucky for the Fred Winter Cup final, and our fantastic second team only went and won it!
“Congratulations to Steven Steinmetz and the boys on an incredible season.
“What a summer for the club!”
Cowes CC said:
“The game didn’t go our way, and we challenged some of the decisions on the day, but as always, we congratulate our opposition in their victory.
“There was some excellent bowling by Josh Jones taking 4-39 off his 7 overs, and by Jason Heap dismissing Newport 1st team batter and club leading run scorer Tom Dye.
“Our outdoor season comes to a close on this defeat, but we don’t let that ruin our season.”
