A weekend of closely fought finals at Isle of Wight Community Club saw new champions crowned and familiar names continue their dominance on the green.
The indoor bowling season at the Isle of Wight Community Club in Cowes came to an exciting conclusion with 2 days of finals held across Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March.
Action began with the Australian Pairs, where Bill Pike and Keith Beckett secured a 20-14 victory over John Crews and Martin Butchers.
In the Fours, Scott Redpath, James Redpath, Steve Crockett and Peter Dent claimed their first club title together, leading from the front to defeat Barry Windham, Jason Beanman, Max Beaman and Jude Beanman 22-14.
Saturday afternoon saw John Crews, Paul Green and Martin Butchers take the Triples title with a convincing 29-13 win over Steve Crockett, Peter Dent and Sue Pragnell. In the Men’s Plate Singles, Keith Beckett broke away from 14-14 to beat Max Beaman 21-15.
Sunday’s play opened with the Men’s Singles, where Jude Beaman produced a strong performance to overcome Steve Lewis 21-12, pulling clear after a tight mid-game spell.

The Mixed Pairs proved one-sided, with Martin and Denise Butchers dominating throughout to beat Paul Allo and Netty Smallman 38-4.
In the afternoon session, Denise Butchers retained the Ladies Singles title for a second consecutive year, defeating Gill Cameron 21-13. Meanwhile, Martin Butchers added another trophy to his tally, winning the Two Bowl final 21-8 against Paul Allo after a competitive start.
The postponed Pairs Final delivered one of the closest contests of the weekend, with Steve Crockett and Keith Gosden edging out Mike Cox and Barry Bridgeman 17-16, sealing victory with 2 shots on the final end after 2 killed ends.
Martin Butchers’ consistency stood out as he reached 4 finals across the weekend, while Steve Crockett featured in 3. Jude Beaman’s Men’s Singles triumph was particularly notable, coming in just his second year of indoor bowls following his run to the National Under-25 Singles Finals in Poole earlier this season.
Thanks were extended to John and Debs Crews for organising the competition, with a strong turnout of spectators supporting players throughout. A presentation evening is set to take place at the club on Friday 24th April.
