A new Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) has been appointed for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary following a competitive interview process held last week.
DCC Samantha (Sam) de Reya will join the force on Monday 7th August 2023 from Dorset Police where she currently serves in the same role and replaces Ben Snuggs, who joined Thames Valley Police as DCC earlier this year.
Speaking about the appointment, Chief Constable Scott Chilton said:
“I am delighted that Sam will be joining us as Deputy Chief Constable. Sam will bring considerable skills and experience to Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, having previously held senior positions in 2 other forces and has a proven track record in delivering outstanding policing.”

Can’t even answer 101 calls ,let alone respond. Appalling force in comparison to other Counties. Here police drive past situations and crimes – often no common sense, only older officers that know what doing. Many of the young one’s are rude and intimadating often being school bully in past.
Too many chiefs, not enough Indians
Thing that really winds me up is that these organisations trot out the same ridiculous sound bites as to how brilliant they are and expect us ‘sheeple’ will believe it and be grateful for their self serving existence. They just demonstrate these contempt for us and their arrogance.
Just another over salaried public servant disconnected from reality in an ivory tower. The poor record of law and order on the island will not improve.
Hopefully she will protect the young ones from the strange old farts

Yay a woman. Lets hope she does better than the female leader of the met, who appeared to turn a blind eye to strange goings on in the police force.
Male or female lets hope they can see the real world that most of us live in.
Already met her, she’s in for a culture shock with the island being decades behind in attitude compared to mainland forces and organisation. Crime is ignored in favour of nimby work.

Lost me as soon as the word progressive was used – that means no traditional law and order as we grew up with, but the inclusive cultural Marxist sort that has turned the police into a very ineffective, politicized ‘service’ whose views, priorities and support for fringe groups and ideologies are often the polar opposite to the expectations of the majority they are paid handsomely to serve.
I believe our Chief Constable Chilton came from Dorset Constabulary, now we have a Deputy Chief Constable from Dorset! Mmm!
Do we really want a ‘progressive’ police force?
Personally, I’d rather we had a ‘traditional’ police force, one that gets its officers out on the ground, dealing with crime, and not pandering to groups who have an issue with pronouns and the like.
When Police do arrest someone, our naive judges let them off.
