A new COVID-19 related death has been recorded on the Isle of Wight – the first in several weeks.
A resident in a local care home is recorded as having died after testing positive for coronavirus, according to data from the Office for National Statistics.
The death occurred sometime before 17th July.
To date, a total of 83 people have died on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for COVID during the pandemic – 40 of these have been in care homes.
Other deaths include 39 at St Mary’s Hospital, 3 at home and 1 at Mountbatten Hospice.
There has been no rise in the number of confirmed cases on the Island, which sits at 421.

Died of COVID or *with* COVID??
Exactly “tested positive” for the common cold/flu symptoms! They can’t make up their minds some say died because of “covid” and then some say “tested positive for Covid” lies lies lies!!
I agree mrs brown. What most here don’t see is the bigger picture, they all think it’s about a virus. They (people)have no idea about what is coming! All kicking off with this second lockdown they ( liars government)are fabricating right now ,starting in Europe and spread across the world. This is an attack on humanity!
By ?
What about the 5 cases of people in hospital over the last 3 weeks, why are we NOT being told about these, why are these being covered up. Oh yes tourism and our lovely council and of course the court jester bob seely.
If you don’t like it, move…
How do you know about 5 cases in hospital over the last 3 weeks if they are covering it up?
You just cant see any further then the isle of wight can you? Why would they bother covering this up when the whole purpose of the MSM ,and authorities is to create as much fear as possible! You dont understand what’s going on at all!
Now before it’s to late shut the island down all these rude holiday makers and 2 nd home owners Sid of back to mainland
Remember in the film, ‘Jaws’ the Mayor, also didn’t want to admit they ‘had a problem’ for, like Councillor Whittle, they have a ‘vested’ interest in emptying as many wallets and purses of the tourists coming here in the various seaside business which rely on tourists.
So don’t expect to hear the truth until AFTER the season is nearly over.
You talk crap old bean
Being honest, it is NOT the ‘tourists’ ANYONE wants, it is the contents of the wallets and purses.
The risk to those of us, who don’t directly or indirectly gain from such monies, means we don’t even gain fiscally from the growing daily risk.
The big cheese does though, so it goes on.
My sympathies go the family.
What does surprise me is this,
“The death occurred sometime before 17th July.”
Not keeping the public up to date ! !
Fake news
Although nothing to do with care homes as such but y dont all ferry operators do temperature checks before going here
@Noodles – because temperature checks are pointless – if you run for your ferry because you are late, you will be hot and sweaty – and guess what – an increased temperature.
Ferry operators are not medics and if the govt and Nhs want temperatures taken, they should do them theirselves.
