An inquest has concluded into the death of a man who was found deceased at his home in Ryde back in November 2023 – but the exact cause of his death remains a mystery.
50-year-old Che Lambert was discovered at his address on Swanmore Road on 20th November 2023, prompting a large emergency response involving police, firefighters and the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, who assisted with the difficult removal of his body.
A Section 9C inquest – held in writing at Isle of Wight Coroner’s Court on Monday (19th August) – found that Mr Lambert had become morbidly obese and had not left his property since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senior Coroner Caroline Sumeray recorded the medical cause of death as unascertained, with the formal conclusion being that Mr Lambert died of natural causes, contributed to by self-neglect.
The unusual circumstances surrounding his death drew significant attention at the time, with the Police initially treating the matter as unexplained. Forensic investigators were called in.
Despite investigations, Mr Lambert’s cause of death has not been determined.

Perhaps it would be a good idea just to let this rest. It must be extremely upsetting for the family tohave this keep appearing in the paper. It is not that unusual to not have a cause of death.
