Police remain in attendance at a property in Ryde this lunchtime (Tuesday) following the unexplained and sudden death of a man in his 50s. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service responded to an address on Swanmore Road, at the junction with Ashey Road, shortly before 17:45 yesterday dinnertime. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were subsequently alerted to the death of a man in his 50s at the property at 18:13. It’s said that the death is currently being treated as unexplained with investigations into the circumstances underway.
Officers remain situated outside the residential address. Next of kin have been made aware. UPDATE @ 19:30 – Police remain present in Swanmore this evening more than 24 hours after being alerted to the death.
Forensic investigators from the mainland have donned white suits to enter the property and conduct an on scene investigation to help rule out any foul play. Detectives from Newport CID have been present at the address today.
