MURDER SUSPECT BAILED OVER UNEXPLAINED DEATH OF 84-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

A 59-year-old man from Lake, who was arrested yesterday (Sunday) on suspicion of murdering an 84-year-old woman, has been bailed. As first reported by Island Echo, paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to a property on Wood Street in Ryde on Saturday afternoon where concerns were raised about the unexplained nature of the death of an elderly female. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary attended the scene and subsequently launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of an 84-year-old woman. She has not yet been named. 24 hours after launching their investigation, officers descended on Newcomen Road in Lake yesterday afternoon and arrested a 59-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He was held in custody for questioning but has since been bailed. He is to return to the police station on 15th September. Police remain at the property in Wood Street this morning as investigations continue.
