Cross-Solent ferry operator Red Funnel have today (Friday) announced that it’s passenger vehicle ferry ‘Red Falcon’ will undergo a major £2m refurbishment of its passenger facilities in spring 2014.
The investment will see the ship’s interior design and facilities replaced with a bright, modern and stylish new look which will set the standard for cross-Solent travel. This will include a new sun deck and promenade walk with wheelchair/pushchair access, two new passenger lounges, a new pet friendly lounge, child play space and designated quiet zone plus exciting new food and drink options and air conditioning.
To boost tourism spending, a new Information Bureau selling tickets, merchandise & gifts will be introduced. In addition, there will be flexible space to host live music, entertainment and meetings with improved Wi-Fi solutions and more laptop/phone charging points. A large 64″ interactive touch screen will also be installed for passengers to explore.
The design team were tasked to increase the number of internal seats by 55% and create an interior design that optimises the space to deliver an unrivalled travel experience across the Solent in time for Easter 2014.
