Local MP Bob Seely has thrown his support behind the recently launched ‘let’s buy local’ campaign to support Isle of Wight food producers.
Earlier this week, Briddlesford Farm – home to the iconic herd of pedigree Guernsey cows – welcomed the Island’s MP to the farm for a tour and chat about the campaign.
Chris Griffin, a partner at the farm said:
“Briddlesford Farm were pleased to welcome Bob Seely MP on Monday for a tour and chat about #letsbuylocal. Bob was interested to hear about some of the achievements at Briddlesford and also some of the challenges.”
During the visit, Chris showcased the shop – which stocks products from over 50 Isle of Wight suppliers – and highlighted the successes of the dairy, which processes over 2 million litres of Isle of Wight milk and cream per year for sale in shops across the Island. He also drew Bob’s attention to the takeaway service being offered by the farm’s Bluebells Café.
Bob said:
“I was delighted to visit Briddlesford Farm to learn more about their successes, but also some of the challenges they face at this time.
“We have some fantastic local food producers here on the Island, many of which supply the Briddlesford Farm shop. We should make the most of the fresh produce that we have on our doorsteps.
“I hope that Islanders get behind the campaign to support local businesses.”

I would bet there is a pack of sausages at the bottom of that basket
Probably a mainland brand of sausage
I’ve gone back to use the milkman after many years. Been a life line. milk and more. One of the easiest websites I’ve ever used. Highly recommend it if you’re a vulnerable person keeping away from the shops / supermarkets / people.

I take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to our local food suppliers. when the lockdown was announced they very quickly stepped up and have supported us, with wholesome food, friendly and efficient service, and home delivery with very little waiting time. EXCELLENT! My mainland friends, having to wait weeks for the big supermarkets to deliver, have been very envious.
and noting the other comments already made, i would just add that if Bob were able to enjoy those fabulous Briddlesford bangers I’m sure he will tell you they are worthy of the prizes they have won. Delicious.
