UPDATED: A motorcyclist is being conveyed to hospital this morning (Wednesday) after being involved in a road traffic incident on Great Preston Road in Ryde.
Police and ambulance crews are currently in attendance at the junction with Smallbrook Lane where a female motorcyclist has come off her scooter, coming to rest laying in the middle of the road. Emergency services were alerted to the incident at just 07:45.
It is currently unclear what caused the incident and whether or not the motorcycle made contact with a silver Ford Puma. Road conditions are extremely wet as rain continues to fall across the Island.
Great Preston Road is closed at the junction of High Park Road and at Smallbrook Lane, with all traffic being diverted locally.
Southern Vectis Route 2 buses are currently unable to serve Great Preston Road as a result of the incident.
UPDATE @ 08:40 – Great Preston Road has reopened in both directions.
The injured rider has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport. She has sustained minor injuries.
