A motorcyclist has been injured in a crash on the outskirts of Ryde this afternoon (Wednesday).
Police are on scene at Calthorpe Road, between Appley and Pondwell, where a paramedic is tending to the rider of a green Kawasaki.
It appears the ride has lost control on a bend, colliding with a tree.
No other vehicles are obviously involved.
The arrival of an ambulance to convey the injured rider to St Mary’s Hospital is awaited.
The road remains open under Police direction.
UPDATE @ 15:00 – An ambulance crew is now on scene, with paramedics assessing the casualty’s injuries.
No doubt ice is the cause. I feel sorry for people who only have 2 wheels this weather.
If they didn’t ride so fast they would be ok.

it happend in the afternoon, & the temperature has been well above freezing (6-8 degrees) for over 24 hours before then…
whether you have 2, 4, or more wheels,.. you should still drive / ride appropriately for the conditions.
