UPDATED: Traffic heading in and out of Cowes is at a standstill following a road traffic collision between a car and motorcycle.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police are currently attending the incident, which has occurred on Horsebridge Hill close to the junction with Noke Common. They were called to the scene at around 14:30.
Island Echo readers are reporting that the road has been closed in both directions. Motorists are advised to divert via Whitehouse Road, Porchfield.
UPDATE @ 15:32 – It is understood the road has been reopened and traffic is starting to move in the area, but remains heavy in both directions.
UPDATE @ 16:14 – A male motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance. Thankfully, he has not been seriously injuries.
Recovery of the vehicles involved in the collision is taking place.
The road has now reopened.
