HM Coastguard is engaged in a missing person search operation on Culver Down this evening (Saturday).
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor are currently coordinating a search of the beauty spot overlooking Sandown Bay.
The RNLI lifeboat from Bembridge is also in the water at the base of Culver Cliff.
A simultaneous search is being conducted by WightSAR at Appley, in Ryde, in relation to the same incident.
The teams are trying to cover as much ground as possible before the light fades.
UPDATE @ 22:22 – The WightSAR team have stood down from their search at Appley.
UPDATE SUNDAY – Island Echo understands that the missing person was eventually located in Wootton late last night.
