Vandals have once again targeted a minibus owned by The Phoenix Project, a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
The Phoenix Project uses 2 wheelchair-adapted minibuses to transport service users into the centre and to community activities.
Over Christmas, a minibus owned by the charity parked at a location in Cowes was damaged with the side window smashed and both wing mirrors broken. The vehicle was subsequently taken off the road
Yesterday (Thursday) a 2nd minibus belonging to the Phoenix Project was also attacked at the same location. The charity claims the damage will hugely impact on their ability to support vulnerable individuals within the island community, preventing them from accessing essential services.
Samantha Whittingham Chief Executive of the Phoenix Trust has said:
“The financial impact that this has on a small charity is massive and takes vital funds away from those needing our service.”

Come on,
We gotta get tough on these vermin.
Yes, but no need to vandalise their bus…..!
Most amusing BB.
I do not fully agree but no small doubt just because someone is a joey, doesn’t automatically mean they are all nice people, and almost all will be a drain on society for life.
Perhaps their family ought to look after them at home nowadays with P.C’s for the limited education they will ever need and so have no need for such charities in todays cash strapped world.
As disability motors are provided for such then no need for special buses as well.
Some want their cake and eat it but leave others to clear up the crumbs.
What an obnoxious individual you are!
Get your facts right before commenting. This is funded by the paying parents and fundraising for this service and their bus, no drain on anyone!
This is a much needed service allowing individuals to socialise, partake on activities and trips etc as well as giving their parent and carers a break!
IV look, that’s people may not be able to afford a disability motor or even have the capabilities to even tell what to and when that’s why these buses need to stay of the road and continue to assist these people.
Let’s hope you or your loved ones need any care in the future and drain society!!
This is a Autism charity, being autistic doesn’t mean you automatically get provided a disability motor.
It’s actually a charity for individuals with a range of learning and physical disabilities and yes your correct that also means autism however they haven’t been automatically been ‘provided’ with a ‘disability motor’.The charity themselves have paid for this to transport the service users to the day centre and access community activities.
Nobody deserves to have their minibus vandalised regardless of how it’s funded!!!!
Could it be the same loser who has been burning vans in the area?
lucas that is the most likely feral benefit kept trash, but of course it ‘could’ be one of the simple minded from the charity who has taken a dislike or holds a grudge to them for whatever reason.
It must be remembered that these people are not 100% otherwise they would not be going there, so we can’t rule anyone out until we know more. But with our disinterested Police that could and likely will be never.
How can we donate to this amazing cause?
I hope the mindless idiots are caught and made to do community service at the phoenix project!
More shite on the Wight
Not always Gaza these people help those who can’t do things for them selfs because of there disability
You will burn in Hell you absolute waste to Humanity!
not their fault they are special needs and disabled.
If I made the law, they wouldn’t want to show themselves on the streets, or any others of their like!
You should burn in hell, my brothers sisters uncles cousin is disabled !
Fu*king idiots need to found and they are probably only kids who have done this and make their parents pay for the damage. Every penny.
100% they need to as well as a huge talking to by the police
Why, for such a small island, have we so much vandalism, of various degrees and inconsiderate people living here? Is there something (apart from the obvious) in the water we know nothing about?
June, in answer to your question, we have a lot of elderly who wrongly assume that children today are very similar to how they were when they were young.
Same with magistrates, they assume children are just naughty and don’t think of the consequences of their actions.
If they were 3 years old, I would agree, but those doing this sort of thing know full well the misery they cause, and they relish in such.
Hence not content with beating up someone, have to video it too to relive the joy.
But instead of having strict treatment, being ‘nice’ is the order of the day.
Idiots thinking, if treated nice they will ‘become’ nice and v.v.
They are wrong, proof is in our youth now.
What youth do you mean ?
The Mods and Rockers, or the Skin heads or the Teds with their flick knifes.
Or maybe the football hooligans of the 60,70,80’s. Or the rioters burning police cars.
Good old days, when pops came back drunk from the pub and gave ma a good old slap. I miss the Krays and all the serial murderers and rapist.
Not to mention all the school bullys flushing your head down the loo.
Every Friday night there was a bar brawl….never done us no harm.
Character building.
