The Island’s Military Road, stretching from Freshwater to Blackgang, has been named as one of the top 10 best driving holidays in Europe by The Telegraph.
Coming in at number 5, the long winding road is described by the Telegraph’s travel team as a roller-coaster ride and those wanting to take a drive are warned that a major cliff-fall could close the road at any time.
It’s said that the drive is best completed in ‘early evening on a balmy day in late spring or early summer when the roadside is full of wildflowers’.
Iceland, Germany, France and Austria pipped the Isle of Wight to the top spot.
