The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to a crash between a car and a motorcycle on Military Road this afternoon (Saturday).
Police, paramedics – and now the specialist flying doctors of the air ambulance – are all on scene at Compton Farm, between Freshwater Bay and Hanover Point.
Island Echo understands the crash, which occurred just before 14:30, has involved a Mercedes estate and a black motorcycle.
The road has been closed in both directions as emergency crews tend to those involved.
UPDATE @ 15:29 – Thankfully, the incident is not as serious as first feared.
The air ambulance has stood down from the scene, with the motorcyclist conveyed by land ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital.
Both vehicles involved have been moved off the carriageway, allowing the road to fully reopen.

Looks like the classic, car driver pulls out Infront of bike due to not looking properly before moving.
Makes one wonder what speed the bike was travelling at.

A few years ago a motorbike went past me so fast near
Brighstone on the Military Road, the bike was going so fast
my car shook and so did I.

Actually it was the fault of the biker who decided to overtake a stationary car who was indicating to turn right. 50 plus people saw it happen
