The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has touched down in central Ryde this morning (Wednesday) as specialist medics respond to a life-threatening situation in the town.
It was just gone midnight that the air ambulance was scrambled to the Isle of Wight, in response to an ongoing medical emergency at an address on Belvedere Street – off Park Road.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has an ambulance, rapid response paramedic and an operational commander on scene.
Paramedics are being supported by firefighters from Ryde, and now by the doctors and paramedics of HIOWAA.
The helicopter has landed at nearby Simeon Street Recreation Ground.
UPDATE @ 01:55 – The air ambulance has now stood down from the medical emergency, returning directly to base at Thruxton.
