A 19-year-old from Ventnor and an 18-year-old from Newport have been arrested following a late-night altercation in Ryde, which saw a male reportedly threaten others with a metal object.
Police were called to Union Road, Ryde at 23:41 last night (Monday) to a report of an altercation.
Officers attended and spoke to those at the scene, who reported 1 male threatening them with a metal object.
Around an hour later, a Volkswagen Polo was boxed in by Police on the southbound carriageway of Medina Way, Newport.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that an 18-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
A 19-year-old man from Ventnor was arrested on suspicion of affray, driving without insurance and contravening a red light.
The pair remain in custody at Newport Police Station this morning.
