The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance rushed to a medical emergency in the East Wight village of Bembridge this afternoon (Tuesday).
The yellow and green liveried helicopter made the journey over the Solent at around 14:15, having left its Thruxton base at around 13:55.
The helicopter appeared to stand down whilst en-route to Bembridge before then deciding to return to the Island, having been proceeding toward Portsmouth.
After a few minutes circling the skies above the village, the helicopter landed in a field off Mill Road with flying medics quickly rushing to a nearby property.
On the ground, a single ambulance and critical care paramedic from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service tended to a single casualty at an address off Woodland Grove.
Having been assessed at the scene, the casualty was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance accompanied by the air ambulance crew. The air ambulance re-located to the helipad at St Mary’s.
