Wightlink are advising customers to avoid non-essential travel and that no further vehicle bookings are available for today (Monday) due to mechanical problems and fog causing disruption to their cross-Solent services.
On the Fishbourne-Portsmouth route, mechanical issues on the flagship ferry ‘St Clare’ are causing significant delays of 45 minutes on both sides of the Solent. It is understood an issue with the vessel’s loading ramp developed earlier this morning.
On the other side of the Island heavy fog is causing delays of up to an hour on the Yarmouth-Lymington service.
A spokesperson for Wightlink has said:
“We advise customers to avoid non-essential travel on all car ferry routes and no bookings are available for travel today. Customers concerned about their sailing should follow our update service online or email [email protected].
“We’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused and will update you as soon as possible”.
