A live album featuring Isle of Wight guitarist Matt Kellett and New York Dolls legend Johnny Thunders was released this month as part of a 3CD box set re-issue of the New York rockers last studio album, Que Sera.
The album features a show at the Paradiso Club, Amsterdam which was originally broadcast live on Dutch radio but has not previously been released. The album also features recordings of live shows from Lyon and Geneva.
“The New York Dolls were my favourite band at high school so getting the gig with Johnny was a dream ticket and a high point in my guitar playing career. When the record company said they were releasing the Paradiso show I was like wow! Good choice!”
Johnny Thunders, whose songs have been covered by everyone from Guns and Roses to Ronnie Spector and the Ramones, was a founding member of the New York Dolls who were a major influence on artists such as the Sex Pistols, Blondie and the Smiths.
Matt, who is currently recording a solo album and working on production of his own rock n roll musical, adds:
“Johnny was one of a kind, the genuine article, it was a privilege working with him”.
