Essential manhole maintenance in Ryde means that buses and taxis will be moved to a temporary stand on Union Street in Ryde this evening and overnight into Thursday morning. During this time, all Southern Vectis buses and local taxis will operate from the lower half of Union Street, which means parking has been suspended in this area. All traffic will have to follow local diversions, turning left at the bottom of Union Street, although access to the Pier will remain. St Thomas Street will also become one-way. Island Roads says that work will begin at 20:00 and will be wrapped up by 05:00.
