MAN ON TRACKS LEADS TO ISLAND LINE DISRUPTION


BWI_8836A MAN has been arrested this afternoon after trespassing onto railway tracks at St John’s Station, Ryde.

Island Line trains were ground to a halt shortly after 17:00 when a dog ran onto the live track and towards Monktonmead through undergrowth. The pet’s owner gave pursuit endangering himself and those around him.

Police were called to the scene by railway staff who made the scene safe for officers before they could arrest the man. He was cuffed and escorted away from the scene.

Delays were experienced on the entire Island Line network between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin, however the service has since resumed with minimal delay.
