Police have this afternoon (Sunday) formally named the victim involved in Friday night’s incident in Sandown as local man Chris Parsons, 44.
Mr Parsons, known as ‘Boo’ to many, was found lying on the pavement in Cross Street at the junction with North Street at around 23:00 on Friday night, as previously reported by Island Echo. Sadly, despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene prompting an investigation into his sudden death.
Shortly after the discovery of Mr Parson’s body, a 50-year-old man from Brading was arrested on suspicion of murder. It has been confirmed today that the gentleman has been released without charge in relation to murder, however has been bailed until September pending further enquiries with regards to possession of heroin with intent to supply.
The unnamed man returned to his home last night.
Boo Parsons lived in the Bembridge and St Helens area most of his life and was known and loved by many. Messages of condolence have been expressed by those who knew him with a local community in shock at what has happened.

A post mortem examination conducted by a Home Office pathologist found the cause of death had yet to be determined. Further toxicology tests are due to be carried out.
Mr Parsons did not appear to have suffered any visible injuries, according to a Police spokesperson.
